Becker Vineyards Le Quattro Stagione 2003 Estate Barbera-Merlot

wine recommendationsA springtime visit to Becker Vineyards yielded a bottle of their Italian blends. Their Le Quattro Stagione 2003 Estate Barbera-Merlot complemented nicely with a Kuby’s steak grilled to perfection by the husband for a delightful Mother’s Day dinner. On the nose we noted floral, spice, leather and chocolate. In the mouth there was delicate fruit with smooth tannins making it an easy drinking, earthy red with hints of chocolate and spice. A limited supply of the Italian blends were made available to the public at the vineyard in Stonewall and have old out, but there is another Barbera available, 2004 Peter’s Prairie Vineyards ($16.95). Becker is also known for their award winning Viognier, Merlot and Claret. To purchase these, visit www.beckervineyards.com.
