Notables: Travel and Spa

Washington State Wine and Food

If you’ve never been to Washington state, it is one of America’s little gems and certainly worth a visit. A thriving wine industry, fresh local seafood like oysters, clams and crabs on the menu and of course home to a hotbed microbrews and coffee, the state makes for a fun foodie vacay. Seattle is a charming town with an interesting restaurant scene to boot, and home to the venerable Pike Place Market that boasts the original Starbucks and Sur La Table stores and of course, flying fish. The salmon tastes phenomenal in Seattle (as it should).Visit www.experiencewa.com for more info.

Make Your Own Spa Products

We love Texas citrus, especially RioStar grapefruit and our favorite way to enjoy it is by simply eating it. But here’s another way to enjoy Texas citrus – as a home spa treatment! Slough off those dead skin cells with this exfoliating scrub. Say the TexaSweet Marketing folks, “Grapefruit is a natural astringent that cleanses and smoothes skin, while the olive oil will replenish your skin’s moisture.”

Items Needed:
1 clear plastic jar
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons Texas Grapefruit or Orange juice

Directions:
Mix sugar and olive oil in plastic jar. Add grapefruit or orange juice and mix well.

To Use:
Place a tablespoon of sugar scrub on a wash cloth and rub in circles anywhere you need exfoliation.

Additional Tip:
This scrub makes a fabulous gift for co-workers, friends and family!
