(Sorry. Couldn’t help myself.)

I’m looking forward to returning to…

Philippe (Houston)
Philippe Schmit’s eponymous restaurant features French classics with local flavor. Delighted that Schmit has opened his own place again. Philippe is participating in  Houston Restaurant Weeks  this month, so this is a great time to visit.

Relish (Houston)
Relish is a tastefully designed lunch counter. It’s also a gourmet market featuring olive oils, preserves and relishes, artisan made breads and cheeses, and yard eggs. You’ll find freshly made cold case items, prepared foods and an an enticing selection of baked goods like “s’mores,” a homemade marshmallow atop shortbread enrobed in chocolate, cookies and brownies. Relish is located at 3951 San Felipe near Willowick.

Second Bar + Kitchen (Austin)
David Bull’s restaurant on Congress is refined and delicious; hip, yet laid-back in that Austin sort of way.

Sandbar
 (San Antonio)
I finally got around to visiting Andrew Weissman’s Sandbar Fish House & Market. The meal began with an amazing selection of raw oysters from around the country. And I am still thinking about the lobster po-boy special. A-ma-zing. Get there, stat.
