I miss eatZi’s. I miss browsing the aisles, checking out the wine, bread, cheese and chocolates. I like eatZi’s for their delicious, reliable desserts, my favorite take-out lasagne and for grabbing a sandwich pre-road trip. More gourmet boutique than foodie mega-mart, the quaint atmosphere is reflected in tasty, high-quality meals to-go.

Dallasites are getting a new location, a stone’s throw from the Park Cities. Word has it they are opening up sometime in the next two weeks in the space vacated by Dallas City Market at The Pavilion on Lovers Lane. This is the second Dallas location since Phil Romano bought back rights to the store in 2006, and subsequent locations everywhere but Dallas closed up shop.

Now, more about that $500. Simply tell the company why you love eatZi’s so in 200 words or less, then email your submission to eatZis@the-ygroup.com by April 16. Be sure to include full name, address and phone number. A lucky winner will receive a $500 gift card valid at either Dallas location.

And while we are on the subject of Dallas, culinarythymes.com is pleased to again partner with our friends at the Dallas Wine & Food Festival April 21-25. Highlights include the Rising Stars Chefs’ Dinner on April 22. This multi-course wine dinner in a lovely setting, the Nasher Sculpture Center, is not to be missed. (Add some beautiful spring-like weather and this could be a recipe for a perfect evening!) Saturday’s Entertaining With Style event is a fun day of chef demos, wine pairings and entertaining tips featuring, among others, Tre Wilcox of Top Chef Season 3 and Blythe Beck of Central 214. Wine seminars explore Spain, new grape varietals and more.
